Why do you do what you do?

This was the text on my very first website. On this page I would like to share a bit of my past. That might explain a littlebit about why I do what I do.

I wanted to start with “A long, long time ago in a galaxy far away….” Because I am a total Nerd but let’s keep it professional….

Electronics

I started out as an Electronics Engineer in my own company. I made several cool things related to Wireless sensor networks and later I worked for an amazing young company that did all kinds of things related to audio product.

Amazing as it was, I didn’t want to stare at a screen with colored lines for the rest of my life so…

Time for a change

Business Transformation

(Definitely not just coaching!)

I wanted to know more about me and what I liked to do so I got really interested in Personal Development. Soon I noticed a lot of people also didn’t know who they where and I started to share what I had learned. Before I knew it, I had become a coach. Not a good one but I made up for it with enthusiasm…

I got better and decided to offer business coaching. Increasing profit, help creating new products and making people happy in their business is very fulfilling. I did notice I hit a plateau. There where certain things I could fix or change….

If you‘re not doing as well as you‘d like, all that means is there’s something you don’t know.

T. Harv Eker – Secrets of the millionair mind

Several things happened at once. I started on 2 new studies that had a drastic impact on my life and my Coaching.

Kinesiology and Lean Six Sigma

Kinesiology

I had learned a lot about the programming we people receive as children and while we’re growing up. I now had to learn how to overcome that programming. Kinesiology can be studied as any other bachelor degree or in modules. I did my study in modules and finished most of the first and part of the second year.

Kinesiology is the best way I know how to do this consistently and fast… and my clients agree with me.

I use Kinesiology for everything. In my own life, with my children and my dog. I use it to overcome fear and stress. It has become a part of me.

First, I worked as an intern with people on a physical level in a practice in Bleiswijk, the Netherlands. My teacher knew we soon had to be able to work without meeting physically so she hammered on learning long distance healing using our own body as a surrogate test subject.

As you might have guessed, I started to use the tools I learned in my Business Coaching. Soon I realized most people don’t want to become successful business owners. Most people have a fear for pubic speaking and most people don’t believe they are good enough, deserving, or worthy.

Luckily, Kinesiology can fix all that.

Lean-6-Sigma Black Belt

After an unsatisfying attempt to improve the maintenance and care department of a company in Waddinxveen, the Netherlands I knew I had to learn something new.

I enrolled in a post graduate Lean Six Sigma Process optimization class. It is a way of working that includes a huge toolbox that can solve unsolvable and very large problems in any process. Production, administration, customer care, you name it.

Even though I already was an entrepreneur, I had to find an assignment to graduate on. And I found one in a company that creates transparent EM shielding solutions. They had a problem with one of their products in hot environments. Using the way of working and the tools I had learned, I was able to improve the product and create several new products in the process.

What I can do for you:

There is more of my backstory below but maybe there already is something that I can do for you. I’m sure you can think of several things I could do:

  • It could be technical
  • It could have to do with your employees
  • It could be something process related.

… or all 3. Send me a message with your challenge and I’m sure I can help you out.

    Human Design

I recently started to work with the Human Design System because I had another challenge. A personal one this time.

In order to learn about myself and my partner and perhaps how we could become a better match, I received a book on the Human Design System.

The system was created out of old wisdom and modern science. It includes Chinese I-Ching, Chakras, Astrology and Quantum Physics among other things. Your design is based on the exact location of the planets, the moon and our sun on the moment of your birth.

There is much more information on the topic online and Google can help you find it. There are a lot of people doing something with the system because it is so easy to use and so accurate.

I made a complete report for myself and my partner. Then I got a request from several friends and I’m just not the kind of person that likes to repeat things that can be automated so I created a piece of software and a database. This became a product. Look in my shop for all your options. For now it is only in Dutch but I see no reason why this could not be in English. I just haven’t made the content yet.

Add Human Design in your Business

Imagine adding Human Design to your business to find out how your employees are compatible with their team. Just like with families, business would probably like to know how they can best interact with eachother.

    • How do I get the best results in a meeting?
    • How do I communicate with the others?
    • How do I motivate others to be their best in the company?

All these things and more can be derived from the report and the family report that keeps specifics anonymous.

Sometimes wonders just come your way!

    Metro Job

I was browsing to find something technical to do and ended up on a student job site where a company was looking for a technical student with skills that wanted to work nights. So I called them up and found myself a new client.

It’s technical, it’s exciting and I get to be in metro stations and on the tracks at night. This truly is one of the most fun jobs I’ve had and it fits perfect because there are usually only about 6/8 measurements a year.

Slowly I’m getting more responsibility and even though it is not extremely complicated, there is no room for error and there is a lot of planning involved and mistakes effects a lot of people.

    Company Support Work

“I’m just messing around….” (“Ik doe maar wat….”) It drives my girlfriend crazy. “I can’t get it to work, can you take a look?” she asks when she has been staring to her screen and tried several things to make the software do what she want’s it to do. A couple clicks and minutes later I got the result that she so unsuccessfully struggled with and asks: “How did you do that?” My honest answer in almost every case is: “I’m just messing around….”

Do you recognize that? With yourself or with colleagues or maybe you too have such a partner with a natural gift for solving problems. Because that’s what it is, a natural gift. Believe me, there is more than enough I can’t do but some things are just logical for me. I feel how the problem talks to me and guides me through to the solution. Sounds silly but I can’t explain it any other way.

“You should do something with that!”, encouraged people around me. Sometimes things just need to be done so I once had some business cards made with the question, “What can I do for you?” (“Wat kan ik voor je doen?”) and my name and number. Not for free, I might add! Some odd jobs came out of that and I sort of kept doing that when I had time and felt like it.

(By the way … What about that hair !?!? …)

I’m handy and I like to do a lot of different things for different companies. Here are some small projects and jobs I’ve done for people in my network. I say small but these friends where very grateful.

Creating an automatic booking system with invoices

I created an automatic booking system for a practice with hundreds of clients and multiple rooms and therapists with different rates and work days. And clients had to be able to pay using Ideal and be invoiced right away.

I had never done it before so this was great to do. I loved it and it turned out a great success. Emails were send automatically with reminders and everything was repeatable and scalable. I’d love to do this again!

    Websites

My good friend and business partner has a successful webhosting and development company. We offer the Human Desing reports together and soon realized that she, as a Projector, should be working as hard as she is. I as Manifesting Generator on the other hand am able to work all day, every day (given it is enjoyable and challenging) and I love odd jobs. The work on her side kept stacking up while her dreams moved further up the timeline and I was getting a little bored at that time. The solution was near….

Now I do the monthly updates for the plugins and I transform the images for web quality and I fill pages for her clients. I’m so stubborn that I also do a little editing on them and the text but I usually get a way with it because it’s good. It’s not rocket science but oh so very necessary for a good website. It is nice to fulfill my role as Manifesting Generator with someone that get’s how Human Design works.

    Editing and Translating

    several books from

    English to Dutch

    (or the other way around)

I’ve edited and/or translated 12 books and made the covers of most of them. I’m not a professional editor or designer, I’m just good with a computer and my English and Dutch are pretty good.

I know how to use the Office apps and how to create a nice looking PDF and EPUB so the writer can just write.

    Illustrations for books

Books sometimes need illustrations. In my case, they are very functional black and white images that still need to look good.

I had the opportunity to create funny looking people for a book about love and relationships. All I received was the hand drawing and the rest just sort of appeared on the screen. Looks pretty good if I say so myself.

So this is sort of my style but I learn by surpassing myself. In the last book I used the outline of a woman on a picture to make illustrations of hand positions and postures for the exercises in the book.

I mess around with the software and with surprising results. I just have to trust that it doesn’t always turn out how we had expected but … always better.

    Logo Design

Because everything went so smooth with the design of the books and illustrations, a friend asked me to renew her logo. She wanted to base it on a mountain she loves.

I love mouth to mouth referrals because I work with the nicest people and they usually tent to also know nice people.

What I’ve noticed is that I am usually better at improving or working on other people’s ideas than I am at creating my own things. That does fit my Human Design nicely though 😉

    So, that’s it!

Thanks for taking the time to read about me. I enjoyed writing about it.

I wish you the best of luck from me and my dog and if you see my van anywhere, feel free to knock on the door.

If I can do anything for you, just let me know!
